Dissent! is a series of conversations on cinema and politics. As part of both his exhibition at WIELS and the screening of Pungulume, Sammy Baloji is presenting Panorama Star of Congo (1912), the first film about the ‘geological scandal’ in Katanga. He will talk about the relationship between the exploitation of land and labourers and the exploitation of images and discourse. How can one arrive at an archaeology and anthropology of one’s own past and present?
