A Poetic Monday
A Poetic Monday is a temporary poetry salon: an evening of poetry appearing in the festival centre each first day of the week. It is a space where words and sentences appear in their ability to form images and new worlds in front of us. The first Monday of the festival presents the work of prominent Lebanese artist and poet Etel Adnan, starting from her poem The Night. On the second one, visual artist and poet Tarek Lakhrissi, author of Fantaisie Finale – a queer anthology for invisibilized bodies – curates an evening in which his work resonates with poets from the local scene in Brussels. On the third and last, with their format Ancient Poetry Nights, Anahita Sadighi and Susana Abdul Majid introduce poetry into the space of Decoratelier, by selecting poems from Arab and Persian origin which they recite in Farsi, Arabic and English. A Poetic Monday might remind us how poetry is not only an individual experience, but a collective one, inviting into a communal act of listening and inside the sensible experience of the rhythm of the voice.
