Built in the middle of the 19th century, the former Gräffe sugar refinery remains an important example of industrial architecture in the area around the Place de la Duchese de Brabant. In 1979, the buildings were converted into a cultural space housing the well-known Plan K, which presented theatre and dance productions, concerts, films and exhibitions. Renovated once again, La Raffinerie currently houses the Brussels branch of Charleroi Danses, the choreographic centre of the French Community.
