They come from Buenos Aires, or "Porteño" as the locals call it. Their passion is puppets of all shapes and sizes and customised dolls that they manipulate on stage. El Periférico de Objetos like to grab familiar myths and to bring the inherent cruelty to life again. They open up these myths and sharpen them. Having followed the group's work for several years, the kunstenFESTIVALdesArts brings them to Belgium with their versions of Sophocles' ZOOedipous and Heiner Müller's Máquina Hamlet. A Hamlet whose puppet bears the face of the playwright and dolls that whirl around in the sarabande of the imperfect world, watched by actors who are as powerless as Müller to change that world, yet who excel at thinking about it.
