The Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2012 is under construction! From 4 to 26 May,
more than 30 Belgian and international artists will be presenting their
works in some fifteen theatres and art centres in Brussels. Over half of
the programme consists of new creations.
The full programme will be announced soon. From 23 March, you will find all
the information here. In the meantime you can stay updated via our Facebook page.
If you want to receive our brochure at home, send us an email before 15
February with your name and address: info@kfda.be.
The Kunstenfestivaldesarts attracts an avid audience, keen followers of
contemporary, inspiring and atypical artistic offerings. More than ever
this year, the range of artistic creations in our international programme
- both from more established artists and still fairly unknown talents -
have awakened people's curiosity and stimulated debate. Projects of
substance and a large and diverse audience: this is what the festival
sets out to achieve - and it did so brilliantly this year.
A lively festival centre and full theatres, occasionally divided but
above all keen to discuss the artistic offerings on the bill. As well as
locals from Brussels, we had a large number of visitors from abroad, in
particular an impressive number of programme planners and festival
professionals from all over the world drawn to this major event in
Brussels. The projects at this year's festival were accompanied by a
great atmosphere and energy with new and, in particular, young audiences
apparent. Finally the projects in public spaces contributed to bringing
the festival to life in the city itself and a series of workshops brought
the festival closer to certain target groups.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the
Kunstenfestivaldesarts 011 such a success: the artists who have produced
such outstanding work, the theatres and other partner institutions who
helped us stage these productions in the city and the audiences who this
year once again came in their thousands to experience this special event.
The Kunstenfestivaldesarts is a space for sharing, with collaboration
between Brussels organisations large and small, French and
Dutch-speaking; it is a vital space for encounter and a place where many
different languages are spoken; it is a space of dialogue where the
culture of the "other" is not a threat or an obstacle, but a field of
investigation generating mutual knowledge and respect.
A big thank you to you all! We look forward to seeing you again in May
012 at the next festival which will be taking place from 4 to 26 May
2012!
