Sign up for "Alternatives sorcières" – workshop by Latifa Laâbissi & Anna Colin

In recent years, the idea of witchcraft has seen a revival, mainly within the activist circles of artists, feminists, queers, and ecologists who – as a reaction to the continuous oppression of the Human rights – strive for more social justice and a less individualistic order of existence.

This makes witchcraft today a metaphor for militant otherness, an alternative way of living, learning and apprehending the world. In this 6-day workshop, choreographer Latifa Laâbissi and curator Anna Colin will propose a physical and theoretical exploration of the contemporary figure of the witch. Diving into the witchcraft’s imaginary and archives – texts, fictions, reconstitutions, body practices, philosophical and anthropological reflections – Alternatives sorcières seeks to be a moment of transmission of rational and irrational forms of knowledge. The workshop will bring together a group of 15 participants and end with a public presentation open to all.

Talk Victoria Pérez Royo

On Thursday 25 May at 19:00 Victoria Pérez Royo will give a lecture on her experiences with Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine. Victoria Pérez Royo is a performing arts reseacher, and lives between Madrid and Berlin. She has been closely involved in Mette Edvardsen’s project. During Thursday’s lecture she will reflect on the shifts in the experience of reading and writing that the living books propose in their intersection between literature and bodies. Entrance to this talk is free, everyone is welcome.

Traffic problems in Brussels on 24 and 25 May

Traffic problems are expected in Brussels on 24 and 25 May because of security measures taken for the visit to Brussels by the president of the United States, Donald Trump. Especially Théâtre Varia (because of traffic blocks in the European district) and Kaaitheater (because of a planned protest march on 24 May) can be hard to reach. We recommend taking the necessary precautions and using public transport to move in-between the festival locations.

Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine: workshops 23 > 26/05

There is one workshop per participant per book; participants commit to the four days. Booking through the box office.
