One Festival, one public
The welcome it gives the public is a priority for the kunstenFESTIVALdesArts. Friendliness, efficiency and linguistic courtesy are not just words as far as the Festival is concerned. Simultaneous
translation makes performances much more accessible.
Five years on, it is pleasing to consider that such efforts have paid off.
During the three-week event in May 1998, more than 36,000 people, French-and Dutch-speakers of all ages, from all communities, Belgians and foreigners, came to performances in Brussels.
But many more than the 36,878 visitors to Festival '98 saw the performances. Many watched it on television, as some performances were broadcast on RTBF, Arte and other channels. The international tours of 20 Festival productions attracted an even larger audience. |
