The ndombolo is a swirling mixture of rumba, traditional rhythms, Sunday brass-band music and funk. Faustin Linyekula is fascinated by the direct impact of this “Congolese pop” on the body. Even though, as he says, it is mainly materialist dreams that are sung about in this music: musicians blow their own horn about their successes, power, beautiful women, branded clothing and cars. This committed choreographer from Kisangani is dedicated to the development of Congolese culture and society. To the extraordinary energy of the guitars and the voice of the ndombolo he adds his own scores, which urge us to “dream with our feet on the ground”. more more more... future invites the spectator to build a future, to the devilish rhythms of Flamme Kapaya and his confederates.
