The film and theatre-maker Federico León is one of the young artists who form the avant-garde in Argentina. His film Estrellas, about the representation and commercialisation of poverty, was one of the surprises of the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in 2006. In 2009 he is coming to Brussels with a project in which he introduces film into the theatre. Yo en el futuro involves a series of homemade films from the fifties. The makers themselves are in their seventies and ask a group of youngsters to transpose the films from their childhood and youth to a contemporary context. Yo en el futuro is another fascinating production in which presentation and representation play important parts. León examines the ways reality is visualised by different generations; he shows how our approach to “time” has evolved over the years.
This performance is like a time machine. Past and present flash past each other. Their outlines become blurred in an inventive game in which three generations take part.
