Vincent Dupont was among the revelations of last year’s Kunstenfestivaldesarts, when he presented two utterly riveting stage works, Hauts Cris (miniature) and Incantus. With Plongée, his latest creation, Dupont is using film for the first time.
With some of his close collaborators, he has shot a “choreographic film”, the next step in his artistic exploration of the relations between the body, space and sound. Light, time and movement. Close-up shots of bodies. A circular movement of the camera and a setting that conjures up the dream of a weightless choreography. Sounds like filters attached to the body, attached to a breath, attached to breathing. Cut off from the screen through headphones, these sounds isolate the image in the space of its projection. “I want to reach a near-absolute intimacy of bodies alive with movement.
